Since March 2010 McCarthy Art Workshops have been fortunate enough to be welcomed back to St Augustine’s Primary School in Salford five times so far this year and have several other workshops booked in at the school over the next few months.

St Augustine’s Headteacher, Mrs Clare Campbell has transformed the school from what was quite an old fashioned looking school into one which is now the hub school for Salford for Art and Literacy. Mrs Campbell worked extremely hard to secure funding for us to be able to make a series of large mosaics to completely revitalise the playground and turn it into a bright and colourful environment for the pupils to play in.

Daniel McCarthy has been an ‘artist in residence’ at St Augustine’s for over a year. He has developed excellent relationships with the staff, pupils and parents. He has designed and created some beautiful artwork with the children, incorporating their own ideas and designs. Every single child from Nursery to Year 6 has had the opportunity to contribute to the works of art which are on display indoors and outside. The artwork really improves the learning environment for the pupils and we have had lots of compliments about the mosaics in particular. Danny is a highly skilled professional. The children enjoy working with him and I would highly recommend him to work in your school. If you would like to come to look at the artwork in person, you are more than welcome, please make an appointment at the school office 0161 794 4083.
